Briefly about upcoming QtWebKit releases Posted: 06 Mar 2011 08:01 AM PST The QtWebKit team is currently working on two upcoming releases and below is a quick brief about them: QtWebKit 2.1 is a release for Nokia platforms (Symbian and MeeGo.) It is used on top of Qt 4.7 and adds a number of bug fixes and features including improved HTML5 media elements support. QtWebKit 2.2 is a release for all platforms. It is based on a new snapshot of WebKit trunk (that has yet to be taken) and will be bundled with Qt 4.8, but can also be used together with Qt 4.7. Installation of Libre Office 3.3.1 on MeeGo 1.1 Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:00 AM PST Here are some Installation instructions for anyone struggling to get Libre Office 3.3.1 onto the Netbook version MeeGo 1.1. Instructions are courtesy of MeeGo community member Zombie. 1. download and install latest java jre, howto is at http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=926&p=12016 2. download libre office (and langpack if you need one) from webpage http://www.libreoffice.org/download/(use Linux x86 rpm) 3. run terminal and type Code: cd ~/Downloads tar -axvf LibO_3.3.1_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US.tar.gz cd LibO_3.3.1rc2_Linux_x86_install-rpm_en-US cd RPMS sudo zypper install *.rpm cd desktop-integration sudo zypper in libreoffice3.3-freedesktop-menus-3.3-8.noarch.rpm 4. install the langpack (if you’re non english user as me), in my exapmle is czech language pack Code: cd ~/Downloads tar -axvf LibO_3.3.1_Linux_x86_langpack-rpm_cs.tar.gz cd LibO_3.3.1rc2_Linux_x86_langpack-rpm_cs cd RPMS sudo zypper install *.rpm 5. set your language: run libre office, should be in meego meu applications/office, select menu tools – options – language settings – languages That’s it. Tommi Strike again Kasvopus Qt FaceBook App for Symbian^3/Maemo5 – MeeGo soon Posted: 06 Mar 2011 02:52 AM PST Looks like Tommi Laukkanen has been progressing the FaceBook app that he was developing and now its available for download right now for Symbian^3 and Maemo 5 Devices, with downloads for the Ovi store and MeeGo coming soon. Kasvopus requires Qt 4.7.2+ in order to run. Apparently “Kasvopus name is a word play from Finnish words Face and Book ” according to Tommi Touch news entry to open it in details view where you can see the latest comments. You can easily “like” or comment the status entry or if it contains a link you can open that in device browser with a single click. Source
