Glow from Intelloware running on the WeTab (MeeGo)

Posted: 20 Mar 2011 01:49 PM PDT

Seems like only yesterday that we saw Glow popup and today we have made a video of it running on the WeTab. The WeTab is a MeeGo device running their Own User Interface ontop of MeeGo 1.1. Now as a recap Glow was developed in Qt and QML and the basic program file (RPM) file was copied over onto the WeTab which is a device it has never been run on before. No desktop icon was created, so you need run it by entering “Glow” into the Terminal.

Glow is a free drawing application with nice effects. Create beautiful glowing art using this application. This application is simple and can be used even by kids.

Available for MeeGo, Windows 7 and Maemo

Maemo.org member jvanhou wasn’t like the rest of us, running around howling at the moon, he was being useful, photographing it with his Nokia N900 and check out the view:

Last night, I heard on the evening news that the moon was going to be very close to the Earth, and would be a spectacular opportunity to view at its fullest. After waiting for sunset, I went out to my backyard here in New Mexico… lo and behold, the Old Man was HUGE!!!
Wanting to take advantage of the opportunity, I pulled out my el-cheapo (but reliable) Meade telescope, a 70mm refractor, and got a fantastic view. I wanted to share the moment with family and friends, so I whipped out my n900 and held the lens up to the viewfinder… I didn’t have a photo-rig for my extremely cheap telescope, so I fought the evening desert wind, held the phone steady, and…

RSA hacked, data exposed that could ‘reduce the effectiveness’ of SecurID tokens

Surfing the interweb I just found some interesting information pertaining to RSA being hacked. Being involved in the implementation of this security model in quite a few locations it feels bad to see it been hacked.

RSA, the security division of EMC and producer of the SecurID systems used by countless corporations (and the Department of Defense), has been hacked. Yesterday it sent out messages to its clients and posted an open letter stating that it’s been the victim of an “advanced” attack that “resulted in certain information being extracted from RSA’s systems” — information “specifically related to RSA’s SecurID two-factor authentication products.”

Yeah, yikes. The company assures that the system hasn’t been totally compromised, but the information retrieved “could potentially be used to reduce the effectiveness of a current two-factor authentication implementation as part of a broader attack.” RSA is recommending its customers beef up security in other ways, including a suggestion that RSA’s customers “enforce strong password and pin policies.” Of course, if security admins wanted to rely on those they wouldn’t have made everyone carry around SecurID tokens in the first place.

Digia's plan to acquire the Qt Commercial licensing and service business from Nokia has brought up some justifiable questions about the future of Qt from various stakeholders.
